Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Implementation
The award of the HRSA federal monies will greatly help the Hope Partnership Project (HPP) to determine direction and services through 2022. The Ross-CORP consists of a core group of HPP members (Adena Health System, Friel and Associates, Ohio University – Chillicothe, Paint Valley ADAMH Board, Ross County Community Action, Ross County Health District) who work with the HPP Advisory Committee to target the whole of Ross County. Specifically, Ross-CORP, led by Adena Health System, is accomplishing its goal to strengthen our rural community’s capacity to change the skyrocketing trend in years of potential life lost (YPLL) by targeting more integrated and more comprehensive SUD/OUD (substance use disorder/opioid use disorder) prevention, treatment and recovery support.
In pursuit of this goal, core strategies will be conducted that:
- Strengthen victim assessment/treatment referral tracking for rapid response via the Ross County Post Overdose Response Team (PORT);
- Provide service navigation outside the traditional healthcare settings (e.g., corrections, child protective services, community organizations);
- Implement increased Harm Reduction efforts;
- Complete a strategic plan to include a detailed analysis of gaps in recovery support to include housing, transportation, and employment;
- Implement education curricula for training outside the school setting (e.g., library, mentoring programs, neighborhood outreach);
- Better train primary care physicians for SUD/OUD (substance use disorder/opioid use disorder) assessment, referral, and Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) provision to include billing capacity;
- Integrate family-centered focus into SUD/OUD recovery services;
- Enlist mental health professionals to provide integrated substance abuse treatment (and vice-versa);
- Increase workforce capacity in the region via state-certified peer recovery supporters and community health workers;
- Identify, implement, and strengthen evidence-based and promising practice models;
- Advocate policy;
- Increase community engagement for active support of individuals and caregivers impacted by SUD/OUD;
- Institute countywide SUD/OUD data-fusion (integration) space to better collect, analyze, and communicate data for informed implementation and measurable outcomes;
- Launch the Ross County Recovery Center with countywide Peer Recovery Services.
